Ecobase’s Improved Forest Management Project Receives ‘A’ Pre-Issuance Rating from Sylvera

Ecobase’s IFM project, active in Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia, has received a pre-issuance A rating from Sylvera based on its current documentation.

Centered on extending the rotation age of commercial forests across Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Latvia, the project was evaluated for its carbon efficacy, additionality, and overall integrity. Sylvera’s rating confirms that the project is expected to issue high-integrity, top-tier carbon credits—further reinforcing the verification already approved by project auditors for its first crediting period.

As of September 2026, this rating places Ecobase among the top 4 IFM projects in Sylvera’s global catalogue, highlighting its position as a market leader in high-integrity European forest carbon. This pre-issuance rating applies to upcoming credits and will be updated upon official issuance.

About the Ecobase IFM project

Registered under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS 5315, using methodology VM0003), the Ecobase IFM project spans Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Latvia. It is the first registered VM0003 project in Europe, as well as the first registered IFM project across these four countries under the Verra system. Designed as an open, grouped project, Ecobase continues to welcome new forest owners seeking to combine sustainable forest management with high-value carbon revenue.

Why this assessment matters

Independent project ratings provide an additional source of project-level insight alongside established standards and registries. For European forestry projects, carbon project assessments are applied in a context where forests are a legally defined land-use category and management requirements are clearly established in law. Data availability and precision are also typically higher, and project design and delivery must account for multiple national regulatory frameworks within a single grouped project.

Sylvera’s project rating offers an independent view on a large, multi-country European improved forest management project assessed using such a framework. Ecobase welcomes the rating as part of ongoing efforts to increase transparency and understanding of European forestry projects within the voluntary carbon market.

The rating was published by Sylvera in August 2026. Ecobase is sharing this assessment now to provide additional context on the project as it progresses toward further credit issuance.
